As a Tool Service Technician (Service Tech III), you’ll use your skills to perform maintenance and repair of complex Tools in a safe and professional manner. Like every member of our team, we will rely on you to provide exceptional customer service to our customers.

What you'll do:

  • Responsible for the safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex Tools and Specialty Equipment at branch or customer locations involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, welding, and hoisting

  • Perform intermediate level diagnostics and repairs on a variety of Tools and systems utilizing working knowledge of schematics and diagrams

  • Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed

  • Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed

  • When required travel to customer site for repair/maintenance of rental or owned equipment

  • May assist in the pick up and delivery of equipment and parts to and from outside vendors and other United Rentals, Inc. locations for purchase and/or repair

  • Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • 3-5 years of experience repairing/maintaining Specialty Tools

  • Must own tools applicable to position

  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools

  • Working knowledge of schematics and diagrams

  • Working knowledge of Specialty Tools; manufacturers’ warranty access; and work order/time spent accounting

  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

  • Ability to coach and mentor less experienced service technicians

  • Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills

  • Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals’ policies and procedures.
