As an Advanced Solutions Manager, you will assist in developing and implementing advanced strategies and practices to drive substantial improvements in productivity, forecasting, Fleet adjustments, logistics, and customer service through advanced analytics/process innovation.
What you’ll do:
Technology Evaluation & Prototyping
Define customer needs and use cases, select best-fit technology to address customer need, and test technology for suitability.
- Maintain awareness of innovative tech in applicable markets through industry conferences, market research, and networking
Interview United Rentals’ sales personnel and/or customers to understand and document customer needs
Evaluate currently available technology options for suitability in meeting customer need
Partner with Sourcing to on-board prospective vendors
Test sensor technology in a laboratory or branch environment to ensure functionality meets expectation
Develop a ‘Proof of Concept’ technology deployment plan
Provide overall Program Management support and planning to deploy and scale technologies
Pilot Program Customer Success
Deploy innovative technologies with pilot customers, ensure customer satisfaction, and document insights and findings from pilots.
Partner with a Product Development Manager to identify customer pilot opportunities
Work with United Rentals’ branches and sales teams to develop operational deployment plan for pilot technology deployments
Coordinate installation or deployment (including hardware purchases) as needed
Train customers or UR branch employees as needed on how to use the technology
Set-up customer or branch teams in vendor system as needed
Engage with Legal, Risk, and Safety teams to manage project risk as needed
Document lessons learned and insights from project deployments to inform future deployments and operational processes
Manage, monitor and document profitability of pilot deployments
Program Scaling & Growth
Develop standard operating procedures for innovative technologies that will enable and support scaling throughout the United Rentals network, including integrations into existing UR tools.
Document suggested processes for purchasing, deployment, billing, wind-down, and inventory management.
Educate Branch and Operations personnel on processes and drive adoption through frequent communication
Partner with IT and Digital teams to plan for and develop integrations into United Rentals digital tools (i.e., TotalControl, FAST, RentalMan)
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required; degree in business management, accounting, communications, engineering, or computer science preferred.
5+ years of experience in project management, product development and/or R&D
Proven track record of teamwork and results
Pre-existing knowledge of IoT, telematics, or connected-sensor technologies such as Bluetooth, Zigbee, GPS, Cellular, Access Management, Robotics, Remote Control, or RFID is preferred
Electronics/Engineering prototyping or testing experience is preferred
Strong oral and written communications skills.
A self-motivated team player with experience achieving common objectives across organizational lines.
Demonstrated interest in, and awareness of, innovative technologies to improve safety, productivity, or sustainability
Ability to establish and meet deadlines, work under pressure and handle multiple priorities.
High level MS-Office computer skills with excellent Excel, PPT skills.
Experience working with, consolidating, and analyzing data across disparate information systems; Familiarity with API’s is preferred
